Senior Design II – Team 3 Visible Light Communication – Final Video
Our project, Vi-Li, will use visible light as a communications medium in order to transmit data.
Visible Light Communication is a recently emerging wireless protocol that can have several benefits and specific uses over Wi-Fi.
In this video, we use a Beaglebone Black board to read ascii text from a terminal and output the binary conversion of the text to an LED panel. مصدر

BeagleBone Black Wireless hastens development
In regards to development boards, it’s not only about the Arduino and Raspberry Pi. The TI-friendly BeagleBone is there in the mix, too, fighting for your consideration
Which is a great reason to focus on some developments around the BeagleBone Black single-board PC: there’s the new version and 2 new Capes from the BeagleBone team.
As well as the BeagleBone Black Wireless (down below), you’ll also find 2 fresh ‘cape’ add-on boards for the existing BeagleBone Black.
BeagleBone Black Wireless
For starters the BeagleBone Black Wireless, which is basically a BeagleBone Black with in-built 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth. It’s following in the path of the Raspberry Pi 3 by building in Wi-Fi support to make easier wireless communications.
Its engine is the Texas Instruments Sitara AM3358 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8
“Similar to the BeagleBone Black, the wireless maintains HDMI output, serial debug port, PC USB interface, يو اس بي 2.0 host, reset and power keys, and brings 2 more status LEDs for WiFi and Bluetooth,” indicates BeagleBone.org.
“Also held on to is the 4GB of onboard eMMC memory with Debian Linux preinstalled, allowing for the BeagleBone Wireless to boot in approx . Ten secs and have you developing by your internet browser in less than Five min’s utilising merely a single USB cable.”
You can understand the specifics of the board by expanding the picture earlier mentioned, and a data sheet is below for download.
Remember that it marks the introduction of the Octavo OSD3358 SiP, including BeagleBone functionality into one BGA package.

Considering the fact that we are speaking about bank card-dimensions peices of kit, room has to be made for extra features. This implies this particular BeagleBone has lost its 10/100 Ethernet port, generating room for a TI WL1835 WiLink wireless interface.
The complete specs:
:: AM335x 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8
:: SGX530 graphics accelerator
:: NEON floating-point accelerator
:: 2x PRU 32-bit 200MHz micro-controllers
:: WiLink 1835 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz WiFi, Wireless bluetooth, plus Bluetooth Smart Module
:: USB client: power, debug and device
:: USB host
:: Micro HDMI output
:: 2x 46 pin headers
:: 512MB DDR3 800MHZ RAM
:: 4GB Embedded eMMC Flash with Debian Linux Distro pre-installed
:: microSD Card Slot
:: ذكري المظهر
:: Cloud9 IDE on Node.js w/ BoneScript library
Along with the the two new capes…
Wireless Cape add-on
Remember that the new Wireless Cape takes BeagleBone Black over and above the abilities of BeagleBone Black Wireless, describes Steve Bush in his news piece on the release. It’s founded on Texas Instruments WiLink 8 (WL1837) industrial dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz), 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Bluetooth Smart (also known as Bluetooth LE), that also includes Zigbee as well as NFC.
The cape unfolds with Debian Linux Distro pre-installed and 4GB of built-in eMMC Flash memory. “Creative designers may be developing making use of their internet browser in below Five min’s with just a single USB cable,” said Farnell.
Display cape add-on
Take note there’s one more Display cape add-on conveniently obtainable. It provides connections for a 4.3″ colour touch screen an LED backlight and capacitive overlay “for a mobile-like interface”.
The cape targets interactive projects, embedded systems and separate set ups.
Price is about ￡55 for the BeagleBone Black Wireless, ￡35 for the display cape add-on as well as, ￡44 for the wireless cape add-on .
